To me it has been enlightening to realize that the right and left are responding to the same hollowing out of a middle class where one salary used to carry a family. The biggest problem is what Moyer points out, susceptibility to maladaptive but soothing non-solutions promoted by those who would exploit a distressed public.
What an excellent piece! I came from the world of Christian Evangelicalism and left it after I discovered a book (Disarming Scripture) that led me to another, and another, until I walked away. I almost lost two lifetime friends over this issue, and I'm sure they still see me as "wrong" about Christian nationalism. Thanks for this piece. I'm saving it.
