Artificial Intelligence Disruption
Accessibility technology comes of age
As if our lives couldn’t get more disrupted by internet conspiracy theories, social media, and the COVID pandemic, artificial intelligence is now at our digital doorstep. Get ready. It’s clear that change is coming. The question is: What does it all mean? Some are forecasting doomsday scenarios. Others envision a different, less dramatic future. I find myself in the latter camp.
I’ve used ChatGTP over the past month and found it helpful in organizing my writing. I’ve been messy since elementary school and if you lifted the top of my desk back then you’d find a pile of gobbledygook. “Does not use time and materials wisely” was consistently checked off on my report card. Much of that was likely due to undiagnosed ADHD which was not heard of in the 1960s. I struggled with shameful organization skills throughout my formal education and felt judged by teachers who gave me the side-eye, assuming I was simply a lazy student avoiding work.
